Cover Reveal!! No Safeword: Matte — Happily Ever After

Matte 4 HEA cover 371x525
Release is planned for late September or early October, and this one is a super-novel. HEA currently stands at 120,000 words, and the next editing pass generally adds more words.

I may have written the first Matte specifically to show you can write a romance without a ton of drama and angst, but the final Ethan and Sam book has enough drama and angst to fill all four books.

I *love* this cover, in part because I got to use the same model from Safeword: Matte, and in part because of the irony of showing them at a fight practice when the title is Happily Ever After. Also, we return to the roots of the first book, and there is a lot of fighting in this one — both in the cage with a large audience, and in private.

Ten Random Things about Me

CB-Banner-smIn Honor of the Authors After Dark‘s kick-off this Wednesday, here are some random facts about me:

  • I used to juggle professionally.
  • I’ve been married to my soulmate for sixteen years.
  • I’m allergic to latex and have a hard time with pvc, so we have a lot of glass and stainless toys.
  • I tend to be a little shy until I get to know someone, but I worked hard to get beyond it and talk to strangers at The Novel Experience and had a blast. I’m looking forward to doing it again.
  • Once I get beyond my initial shyness, it’s hard to shut me up.
  • Upon reading my t-shirt, a gentleman at TNEE said, “My wife’s safeword has turned into Jim-if-you-do-that-again-I’m-going-to-kill-you.”
  • Yes, that’s my bed in the background. Yes, it’s been retrofitted with kinky accoutrements.
  • The picture was taken in my bedroom because I needed to go somewhere I could lock the door to set the banner up, because my kids are way too young to be asking me what a safeword is.
  • I am incapable of writing a short story. They all turn into novels. Sometimes supernovels.
  • This was supposed to be five random facts. I have a hard time keeping the word count down on blog posts too, apparently.

Whatsyoursafewordonshirt.smI’ll be wearing my “What’s your Safeword” t-shirt, and I love meeting readers and authors. Please come say hi to me if you see me. And, if I look lost, maybe help me figure out where I should be?   I have a feeling everything will be fine once I arrive, but I’m a little overwhelmed as I pack and try to make plans.

I have a game in the Carnival (Friday night from 5:00 to 7:00), and would love to have you stop by and play. We won’t be playing pin the tail on the donkey; my game involves pink tennis balls and a huge dildo.

Because this is my first Author’s After Dark, I haven’t made a whole lot of plans for things to do ahead of time. This includes dinner plans. If anyone would like to have dinner with me (dutch treat) please let me know at candace at candaceblevins dot com or facebook.com/candacesblevins.

Oh, and see the box in the top right hand corner of my blog? Enter your email address to be on my mailing list, and you’ll know about new releases, sales, contests, etc. Or, to be even more up to date, join Candace’s Kinksters, where there’s currently a contest running to win one of three eARC’s of Happily Ever After when they become available.

Safeword: Matte – The Honeymoon Excerpt

Releases this Friday!! Here’s an excerpt, just before “The Big Event”.

Sam couldn’t believe how nervous she was as she stepped out of the tub. Once upon a time she’d have kept it to herself, but she knew Ethan would want to know, and she didn’t mind letting him see her weaknesses.

“Ethan, I know you’ve prepared me for this, but I’m a little scared.”

He pulled her to him and wrapped his arms around her. His deep voice vibrated through his chest and into her cheek as he said, “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t turned on by your fear, but I want you to enjoy this, too.”

He leaned back and looked into her face, scrutinizing. “Do you want a glass of wine before we get started?”

“Maybe a half glass? I’m not sure a lot of wine would be wise after the enema.”

He smiled. “We’ll split a glass between us, then.”

He dried her, then himself, and they walked to the kitchen together. He’d put a bottle of wine in the fridge earlier, and he pulled the cork as they talked about the house, the weather, and how beautiful the ocean view was through the window.

He walked her outside, and when the salt air and ocean breeze hit bare skin, Sam made a note to request sex outside at some point.

Ethan stood behind her and she leaned into him as they passed the wine glass back and forth, both taking sips as they breathed in the clean, refreshing air, and soaked in the sun’s fading rays on their naked bodies. The view was stunning, and as Sam’s eyes adjusted she could see other islands in the distance, and wondered if it’d be possible to kayak out to them.

She drained the last of the wine from the glass and Ethan said, “Okay, my beautiful wife. It’s time. I’ll let you drop the wineglass off in the kitchen and meet me in the master bedroom.”

Sam had to work to make her vocal chords function as she said, “Yes, Sir.”

If you haven’t read the first book, Safeword: Matte is on sale for a limited time.

BDSM Blog Hop Part 2 — Fun after the Negotiations

bdsmbloghopbadge1Welcome back to the BDSM Blog hop! Yesterday I talked a little about negotiations, today I’ll provide an excerpt showing the fun you can have once the negotiations are over.

=======================

“We’ll do your strength exercises in two parts this weekend.” His hand moved towards her pussy and he crammed two fingers into her with no soft caresses or warning.

“Nice and wet.” His deep voice caressed her skin as the basso profundo vibrations drifted towards and around her. He removed his fingers without ceremony, picked up a handful of marbles, and methodically began poking them into her.

Sam’s pussy spasmed as the glass orbs were quickly pressed into her, and she tried to hold her entrance closed to keep them from falling out as more and more were packed inside.

Her rectal muscles began to spasm around the giant plug as she tensed her ass along with her pussy muscles, and she soon discovered it was nearly impossible to relax around the plug and still hold the marbles in.

Ethan started the time on his cellphone, counting up, and turned it away from her. He set another chair in front of her and settled onto it before casually opening the bag and extracting a clothespin.

“I’m in a mood tonight, Samantha. I want you to hurt for me. No words, but feel free to scream and cry.”

matte 1 2 3 300x450He took his time placing each clothespin, building tension and anticipation until Sam was sure her adrenaline alone could light a stadium. The strain of holding the marbles in and fighting the large plug in her ass, along with being in the splits and her arms bound completely motionless — all of this in concert with the clothespins placed at random on her breasts and the underside of her upper arm had her frantic with pain, fear, and anticipation.

She let out a blood curdling scream when a clothespin on her inner arm hit a nerve the wrong way, and he immediately removed it, smiling as he said, “I’ll have to remember that spot for another time.”

He only placed it about a half inch away, and it still hurt terribly, but was bearable.

Sam had no idea how much time had passed when several marbles slipped from her and crashed into the metal cookie tray below. She squeezed her pussy as tight as she could, and didn’t realize she was squeezing her eyes closed until a gentle finger traced both eyebrows and a soft voice near her ear rumbled, “Open your eyes and let me see how much it hurts, Darlin’.”

Opening her eyes made the muscles around the plug spasm, as if relaxing her facial muscles somehow affected her ability to control her pussy and ass muscles. Another marble dropped, clinking onto the tray, and her eyes threatened to close again as she slammed her pussy shut with all of her might.

Sam was flexible enough the splits weren’t a big deal. However, having her muscles bound into this position for so long was making her leg muscles strain as much as her pussy and ass muscles. She inhaled to a count of thirty, and exhaled it all out to a count of twenty, concentrating on allowing the tension in her muscles to flow out with her breath.

“You have such control, but I think I’d like to see you lose it tonight, Samantha darling.”

She opened her eyes to see his fierce green eyes, and she tried to push back, away from him, but the chair backs and her bondage held her firm.

“Since you can’t keep your eyes open, we’ll take your vision, to start.”

He reached under her chair and his hand appeared with a blindfold. Darkness enveloped her as the loose, furry fabric settled over her face.

Her hearing kicked into overdrive and she tried to make out what he might be doing. She thought perhaps he’d reached into the clothespin bag again, and she gasped as she felt fingers lift her left pussy lip. A short scream escaped as a point of pressure squeezed her outer labia, and within moments she had eight clothespins lining either side of her pussy. Too bad he hadn’t clothespinned them together, to help her hold the remaining marbles in. She didn’t even know if she’d lost more or less than half, though she assumed less.

She didn’t know what he put on her nipples, but she was certain they weren’t clothespins, and she screamed in agony through a half a dozen breaths before the biting pain merged with everything else.

Fingers lifted her clit hood, exposing the super sensitive nerve endings beneath, and something cool stroked either side and then down the top. Sam smelled cinnamon a few seconds before the burn started, and she barely bit back words as they formed in her brain. This wasn’t the first time he’d used toothpaste on her, so she knew how bad it would hurt in a few minutes, and she wasn’t sure she could handle the burn on top of everything else.

Fingers stroked around and over her clit hood, rubbing more toothpaste over sensitive skin, and Sam’s hips fought the rope as they tried to move, to escape.

She couldn’t hold the marbles any longer. Her pussy muscles let go and the remaining marbles clattered into the metal below her. Soft lips touched her forehead over the blindfold and Ethan’s deep voice rumbled, “Well done, Darlin’. A new personal best, which means your required times this week will go up. For now though, I think we need something bigger in your ass.”

He didn’t tell her what was going in, and she had no idea if it was another plug or the next size up stretching ring. She gasped as the plug came out, managed to control her noises as his fingers smoothed more lubricant inside of her, and squealed in surprise as something large was once again pressed into her.

He moved a little faster this time, and she fought to let it in as her muscles were forced to accommodate its girth.

Her clit was burning worse now, and the inside of her arms ached in numerous places from the clothespins. Her breasts hurt, too, but her inner arms screamed louder.

“Do you think my cock will fit in your pussy while your ass is stuffed full?”

Sam tried to move her hips again, the burn on her clit was almost too much, the clothespins on her arms were nearing unbearable, and her pussy was so empty.

Something smooth touched her lips and she opened them, groaning as she felt the ball gag enter. It was one of the softer silicon ones that didn’t hurt the roof of her mouth, but it spread her jaw painfully and she groaned around it.

Negotiations and BDSM — Consensual Nonconsent

Welcome to the BDSM Blog hop! Today I’d like to talk just a little about one of my favorite kinks — negotiation.bdsmbloghopbadge1

Unfortunately, after being with my husband for close to two decades, and married for sixteen years, we no longer have a lot to negotiate. When we role play and map out the scene, there are still sorta-kinda semi-negotiations, but I get most of my kicks from letting my characters negotiate these days.

Here’s a tiny excerpt from Safeword: Matte — In Training. If you haven’t read either Matte book (pronounced mah-tay, as it isn’t English), you should know Ethan is extremely well endowed, and wants to work his new fiancée up so she can take him in her backside on their honeymoon. This is a small peak into the contract negotiations.

===============

SAFEWORD MATTE-300 tall“Thanks for giving me some space. I’m ready to talk now, I think.”

Sam’s heart fluttered as Ethan’s gaze rose and a smile lit his face. He nodded to the coffee table. “I printed off the agreement, if you want to read through it and make notes.” He gestured to his laptop and added, “If I can have another ten minutes here I can finish what I’m working on, and then I’m all yours.”

They were both wearing jeans and tees, and anyone looking in on them wouldn’t have thought anything odd about a couple hanging out together on a Saturday, unless they read over her shoulder.

Sam used the pen Ethan had thoughtfully placed with the contract to make her own notes, and when she made it to the end she looked up to see Ethan watching her, his laptop open on the table between them.

“You didn’t write this.”

He smiled. “I wrote a version of it, and asked an attorney friend in the lifestyle to reword it for me.”

safeword2.web424x600 “Why?”

He shrugged. “I had some contract law classes in college, enough so I can hold my own if necessary, but I wanted you to see it as more…official?”

Did he think she’d blow it off if the wording wasn’t exactly right? No, she didn’t think so. She looked at him a few seconds, debating whether to push for a better answer. Finally, she said, “I try hard to look at the intention of your instructions, and not hold you to the letter of exactly what’s said. If I truly misunderstand it’s different, but if I know what you mean, that’s what I go with.”

“Are you upset at my having someone else re-write it?”

“Not upset, just…” She shook her head. “I want to be sure you don’t feel as if you need another attorney in order to come to an agreement with me. I mean, this is only important to you and me. No judge is ever going to see it, so there’s no reason the wording has to be legally acceptable. Have I made you feel you need help to get me to follow our agreements?”

Safeword.Honeymoon 300x425Ethan stood and walked to her, dropped onto the sofa and pulled her into his arms in one motion. “I didn’t intend to give that impression. I thought it would impress you; I had no idea you’d see it in a bad light, but I can see why you do. I’m sorry. You’ve never made me feel like I was at a disadvantage in our negotiations.”

Sam pulled back to look at him, and raised her body off the sofa to kiss his cheek. Plopping back into the seat, she said, “No need to apologize; I just needed to know why. Thanks for making the effort to get it right, but since your fiancée is an attorney you can always ask her to do it, you know?” She hugged him again and then pushed at his chest. “Now, back to your side of the room so we can negotiate. No way can I think straight with your arms around me.”

Ethan chuckled and kissed her forehead before moving to the sofa across from her again. He pulled his laptop back into his lap. “Okay, I’ll make changes here as we negotiate, and you can do a final read through before we finalize it.”

“I’ve already agreed to most of this: wearing the anal ring a total of forty-five minutes a day, at least two hours apart, at least five minutes per insertion. It sounds like you’ll be in charge of it on the weekends and it could be longer?”

He nodded. “We’ll move to larger rings on Fridays, and I’ll work you enough over the weekend so you’ll be ready to put them in yourself by Monday morning.”

“I have some concerns over the wording about the monster plug you had me sit on. I have to be able to go a half inch farther every Friday night, or accept one stroke of the stainless cane for every eighth of an inch I’m short? That seems like a lot.”

“The plug is a gradual spread, so a half inch farther down is about an eighth of an inch larger diameter. We need to spread you about an inch and a quarter wider than you are now, which means it will take sixteen weeks to get there an eighth of an inch at a time.”

He ran his hand over the top of his head and added, “Remember, you’ll be stretching the muscles inside, and your body will be creating more skin and longer muscles as we go. I fully expect you’ll have a few days you’ll need to back off a size in order to fulfill your obligations, and I need to trust your judgment on what you can take without causing damage. The guideline of stretching at least an eighth of an inch a week is to make sure you stay on target to be ready by our honeymoon.”

Sam crossed out her objections and continued. “Thank you for the provision taking away my safeword for punishments.”

He nodded. “You’re agreeing to those specific consequences. If there’s a problem I’m not aware of, you’ll need to state the problem.”

“I don’t see my arms falling asleep as being a problem for less than a dozen strokes of the cane, but I understand your meaning.”

“The most you’ll get is six.”

Sam shook her head. “If I fail again two days later the total is two strokes for every eighth of an inch, and in another two days it grows to three. I don’t see myself not gaining anything at all, but there’s no guarantee the most will be six strokes.”

He tilted his head. “And you’re agreeing to this, without a safeword?”

She shrugged. “You have caveats about giving consideration if I’m sick or have a valid reason for not reaching the goal. I trust you’ll be fair, so yeah.”

Safeword Matte animated banner 468x60

This is a small part of the negotiations, where Sam is being agreeable, which doesn’t always happen during their back and forth at this stage. However, it brings up something I’d like to talk about — consensual non-consent.

Sam is agreeing Ethan can give her specific punishments without her having the ability to safeword out of them. In this case, it’s a certain number of strikes with a stainless steel cane, based on her training progress. Or, rather, lack of training progress.

Please note my most important ingredient here — trust.

She can agree to give him this kind of power because she trusts him to be responsible with it.  Is there anyone in your life you’d trust with this much power? Would you want to?

Come back to the blog tomorrow for an excerpt showing the kind of fun you can have once the negotiations are over.
